On tour. Having an amazing time. We have a couple of new shows scheduled in the UK coming up at the beginning of November, with the New Pornographers again, so for all of you Londoners - we're finally making it over to the European continent!
We've updated the shows page, and soon, when it is set up, there will be a new tour diary page, that will have pictures and stories from this tour.
So sleepy, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....
October 25, 2005
The tour was abruptly cut short due to a medical emergency on the part of New Pornographers/Destroyers bassist, John Collins. He's okay now though. We were sad because the tour had been really great, but all good things must come to an end. With a change in the wind, we are off toward the east again, to Boston once more, and then home to Canada to play our way back home to Victoria.

Hello everyone! We are now back in Canada from a great trip to the UK. Highlights? The shows were a lot of fun and very sweaty. Lots of great accents and old buildings. The usual. We are playing in Ottawa tonight, and though there are some minor van problems, hopefully we will make it.
November 30, 2005
Well we are done our touring for the time being. We made it through the rain and snow and the plains and mountains, and are back home with our little van that could. I cannot say enough great things about our van. Amazing.
We had a great time in Canada, the States and the UK, and are looking forward to going back to all those places and more! Thanks to the New Pornographers for having us along - we thouroughly enjoyed the whiskey and fruit plates. As for our own shows through Canada, we thank all the bands that played with us, all the people who put on the shows for us and most importantly all the people who came to the shows!!
Now it is time for winter hibernation, and by hibernation I mean wrinting new songs, and beginning plans to do it all over again in the New Year. xo.
January 9, 2006
Happy New Year! We are playing a bunch of dates down the west coast in February. It will be so nice to be in balmy California while our sucker friends are toughing out the Canadian winter. This tour will also be the last that we book for ourselves; we've enlisted Boche from Billions to work with us from now on. While it feels a little weird to not be doing it ourselves, it will be terrific because it means we'll be able
to get out more and to more places. Please refer booking requests for everywhere but Victoria, Vancouver Island and Europe to him. Anyway, until our next shows, we are keeping busy writing new songs. By the way, you can now keep up to date with us through our new(ish) mySpace page.
February 11, 2006
We are currently in Olympia, WA. It is the day after the first show of our Rock-o For Tacos mini-tour to California. The USA has the best Mexican food! We ate our first burritos last night, and rated them a solid 8/10. The show was... how you say, raw. A fun bunch of rocking and dancing in a cold arts collective space. We're looking forward to seeing the people we met last fall on the New Pornographers tour, and to meeting a bunch of new people at our upcoming shows. More news later!
March 24, 2006
Okay so South By Southwest was ridiculously fun. The whole band was together again after a month of Kathryn being on tour with The New Pornographers, and it was glorious. Just as we were getting ready for our showcase, though, we realized that Kathryn's keyboard had been taken away to LA on the New Pornos tour bus! Oh what to do, what to do... thanks so much to Run Chico Run for saving the day and lending us the necessary equipment to let the show go on. We saw too much music and too many great people to even start right now, but
basically, we can't wait until next year. Our next trip is to Europe
in May. Woohoo! Keep your eyes peeled for North American dates in June and July. See you!
May 15, 2006
We're in Europe! We spent the last few months hard at work on new songs, so we feel we earned a bit of a vacation. We are having a blast and our tour hasn't even officially started yet; our first show is in Brighton on May 20 at The Great Escape festival, followed by a bunch more UK and European shows. Upon our return home, we set out on a big North American tour. Looking forward to seeing all our old friends and fans!
June 6, 2006
So, tomorrow we start our two month North American tour. We will be touring across Canada and the States, so check the show section to see if we are coming to your city. New shows are being added all the time, so check back to see the new confirmed dates.
We just got back from Europe, which was fantastic. Amazing. Thanks to everyone for supporting us on our first European tour. We will definately be back!
Write us! See you soon!
June 29, 2006
Hey everyone, there are more confirmed shows for our July US tour up in the show section. There may be one or two shows still to be added on the days off, but I'll let you know when and where, when they are confirmed. We are just about finished our Canadian tour, playing in Halifax tonight with the Maynards and Hotshotrobot, which will be an amazing show! Tomorrow night is in St. John, New Brunswick at Elwoods, and then it's off to the states, beginning in Boston at the Middle East Upstairs on the 5th of July. Kathryn will be at the Comerica Tastefest in Detroit singing/playing with the New Pornographers on the 2nd of July, but then it's back to the Immaculate Machine tour on the 5th.
When we get home, we have a lot of work to do - we will be writing a soundtrack for a canadian film called Hammerheads, as well as working on songs for a new album! Those of you who have been to our shows so far, will already have heard at least one new song which will be on the new album...
In the beginning of June we did a CBC radio 3 live in studio session, so that will be up at http://radio3.cbc.ca/ but not yet. You should go look and check out Canadian bands anyway - we love CBC radio 3, and it is one of the best places to find out about great underground canadian music.
Whew, ok, I think that's it.
Stay tuned, we'll talk more later!
August 16, 2006
Hi, we're finally back home after a great (although very very hot) two month North American tour. The non-air conditioned van was only a problem when the temperature was 47 degrees C (118 degrees F)...
We now have our CBC radio 3 studio performance available for you all to listen to.. We threw in a couple french translations as well as a new song which will be on our next studio album, and one old song re-done.
Here's the link: http://radio3.cbc.ca/concert
So now, it is the summer, and we are enjoying our break - although we are writing new songs and getting ready to record in the upcoming months.
Stay tuned for our Exclaim!/Mint records tour of Canada with the New Pornographers and friends in October. Sadly though, no Atlantic coast dates.
And as always, check the shows section for new concert dates!
September 27, 2006

We are reprinting The View now, so if you've been frustrated in your attempts to buy it thus far you won't have to wait much longer. It will be available from this site by mail order and and at our upcoming Canadian shows with the Ol' Pornos and Novillero. We will also have our limited edition French EP, Les Uns Mais Pas Les Autres, on tour. If you're interested in a comic describing part of the process of making the EP, visit our mySpace blog:

Hey there! Just wanted to let everyone know that the fall Exclaim tour is unofficially underway. Brooke and I are driving our baby blue van, named Gem, across Canada for the 4th time and after 25 years on the road she still purrs like a kitten! The drive has been pretty eventful so far and I'm not talkin about coyote, mountain goat and elk sightings! I'm talkin 'bout the Rolling Stones! We happened to be passing through Regina right when they were due to perform to a packed Taylor field! We couldn't find it in our hearts or our wallets to pay 300 bux for tickets but we did stay long enough to watch Mick flail around on the big screen and hear him crack a token Regina-Vagina joke!
As for actual news we are going to have some new bear flavoured t-shirts as well as the French EP for this tour!
See you soon!
Luke

French EP out now. Limited edition. More details about how to buy it etc. will follow. We are so happy with it, and the cover art is delightful.

November 24, 2006
Les Uns Mais Pas Les Autres, ie our French EP, is available now. It is a collection of songs from Ones & Zeros translated by us and re-recorded in french.
In other news, we are right in the middle of making a new album right now. We have reached a few obstacles and are taking the holiday season off, to resume in January. Expect a release sometime next year. The songs sound really cool, it's evolving in a neat direction. A live version of Dear Confessor, a song from the upcoming record, is available for FREE as iTunes' single of the week, so go get that. And if you are interested in the recording antics, there is a slightly more frequently updated blog on our mySpace page ( www.myspace.com/immaculatemachine )

Happy New Year! We are gearing up to finish our album this month. It is sounding good. Street team, be prepared for a help/free goods exchange! (If you want to be on the street team, email us) In case you haven't heard, there are guest vocals on the song "Jarhand" by Brits The Cribs and Franz Ferdinand's Alex. So that's that.
We are also giving away a limited edition split 7" vinyl record. It includes our song "Cynique" as well as an unreleased New Pornographers track and a second record with Novillero and Awkward Stage. Email us by January 5 to enter yourself into a draw for one of ten!
February 13, 2007
Finished at last! Our album is finally done. With the help of producer Colin Stewart (Black Mountain) and some strings by Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy) and Mike Olsen, it sounds fantastic. Even if we do say so ourselves. Of course it won't be released until June so don't get too excited yet. Next order of business is the South by Southwest festival in Austin, TX and a Victoria, BC show before that to warm ourselves up. Woowee Texas!
February 26, 2007
Upcoming album, entitled Immaculate Machine's Fables, will be released June 12, 2007. The tracklisting is:
(1)Jarhand, (2)Dear Confessor, (3)Roman Statues, (4)Old Flame, (5)Small Talk, (6)Nothing Ever Happens, (7)Northeastern Wind, (8)C'mon Sea Legs, (9)Pocket, (10)Blinding Light
Now that we've finished recording the new album, we just have to learn how to play the darn thing. We're heading to Austin, TX for South by Southwest and we are playing a show in Victoria before we go. This Friday at Logan's. Come encourage us in our early attempts at learning our new songs!
March 20, 2007
South by Southwest ruled. I don't know how we managed to fit so many concerts and so much alcohol into 6 days, but we did. Our shows were great! Along with the Mint Records BBQ + showcase, we also filled in for Chad VanGaalen who unfortuantely was turned away at the US border. So anyway, good time had. Stay tuned for more album release details (tours, contests, etc).
April 5, 2007
Immaculate Machine's Fables (out June 12), new album artwork:
West Coast tour dates in June. Possible London, UK shows late June. Other Canadian dates in July/August. USA in September. Yay! Life is starting to get boring without tours.
May 17, 2007
Mint Records (our label) has made a deal with iTunes for them to do a worldwide feature pre-release sale for our album and to make Jarhand the free download of the week. The album will be available 2 weeks earlier than in stores and I think it will be like $5.99 or something cheap. If you want to wait for the vinyl though, I understand.
Oh, and please join us June 1st in Vancouver for our listening/hang out party. We want to kick off the album release with a good party. The event doubles as an art show for our official artist and sister extraordinaire, Caitlin Gallupe. So bring your piggy banks or whatever, her art will be worth getting. Check some of it out here: http://www.terminus1525.ca/studio/view/5263
Keep watching our mySpace site as well for show updates and ramblings. We are soooo excited for the release!
June 14, 2007
Fables is out now, hurrah! We are super excited for our local CD releases and our trip to the UK. Buy the album now from Maple Music:
http://www.maplemusic.com/product.asp?dept%5Fid=2877&pf%5Fid=2875%2D70&lang=EN
I don't know why our website updates aren't coming through properly, but in any case we're giving this old site the bot and making a new one so watch for it in about a month.
See you at the shows!
